We’ve each been qualified (certified) accountants for more than twenty years and continue on in this great profession that’s allowed us to travel around the world including the UK, USA, Australia, Canada, Spain & Germany. 

Unlike law, accounting truly is a global profession where you can go anywhere and just get started. Debits are Debits and Credits are Credits in Washington & Rome!

Last year I (Jason) conducted over seventy interviews for candidates seeking various accounting positions within our company. It’s always a fascinating process seeing candidates from all ages, backgrounds and countries represent themselves. 

The striking thing is just how many things candidates have in common:

-    Wanting to help a company succeed i.e a service driven mind-set

-    An ability to express themselves easily

-    And, of course, a genuine interest in numbers

And what makes the difference between a good candidate and a bad one? 

Genuine Passion. 

We can see it so easily – who’s just there to make some money. And who’s there because they are dying to get in there and help. And those latter candidates are the one who always get the job. Which one do you want to be?
